Uniform & Safety

Design, issuance, sizing, replenishment and the exchange that every uniform program at this scale will need.

Off-the-rack or custom depends on what Pilot wants the program to do. We will put the trade-off in front of you.

We provide uniform design services through an experienced in-house art and design department, and we also carry large lines of off-the-rack uniform options. Which route a given item takes depends on the goals Pilot sets for the program.

  1. Discovery

    Step one

Brand immersion — understanding the standard before designing to it.

  2. Concept development

    Step two

    Options developed against the brief.

  3. Presentation

    Step three

Design options put to Pilot stakeholders.

  4. Prototype

    Step four

A real garment, not a rendering.

  5. Wear testing

    Step five

Feedback from the people who will actually wear it, on shift.

  6. Specification and launch

    Steps six and seven

Final specification approval, then production launch.

Decoration: overseas, domestic, or both

Every item in a uniform program has different usage volumes, replenishment patterns, lead times and pricing considerations, so there is no universal quantity threshold that decides whether decoration happens overseas or domestically. We evaluate each product individually against annual usage and forecast demand, inventory strategy and replenishment frequency, required lead times, total delivered cost, program flexibility, new store opening schedules, product complexity and speed to market.

Price and lead time are usually the two that decide it. Overseas branding can be more cost-efficient for high-volume items with stable demand; domestic decoration offers shorter lead times and the ability to respond quickly to a change in demand.

We have run hybrid models for large programs: core products with predictable demand produced and decorated overseas in larger runs, with domestic inventory held to cover new store openings, employee replacements, seasonal swings, specialty sizing and unexpected demand.

Extended sizing

Extended and specialty sizing can be built into both initial production runs and replenishment. We will set the inventory strategy with Pilot to cover employees without carrying excess.

Returns and exchanges

Returns are managed through a documented process. They can be started electronically through the ordering platform or by contacting our customer service team, and a Return Authorization number tracks the return through to completion. Each request is reviewed individually.

There are no charges associated with returns approved through the Return Authorization process.

Safety apparel

The RFP asks for demonstrated ANSI, FR, Hi-Vis and PPE expertise in both section 4.1 and section 8, and our source draft has no section answering it. Safety apparel capability — ANSI classes carried, FR/NFPA compliance, Hi-Vis and PPE ranges, and how eligibility is enforced by role and state. The outline marks this INSERT and nothing has been written yet.
